Anyone aged 16 and older is welcome to volunteer at Canada Blooms.
What are the volunteer shifts like?
Volunteer shifts are very flexible! You can choose to volunteer for a morning, afternoon or evening shift - whichever you prefer. As there is always so much going on, you should keep in mind that as a volunteer you will be on your feet for much of the day.
What are the types of things I will be asked to do as a volunteer?
Our volunteers participate in a number of important activities, including:
Staffing information booths and answering any questions visitors may have
Greeting visitors and guiding them to show highlights
Selling the Canada Blooms magazine, raffle tickets and more
Admitting visitors for lectures and celebrity events
How will I know I've been selected to be a volunteer?
Every year Canada Blooms has over 900 volunteers that make our event a success. Our volunteers are important to us and Canada Blooms makes every effort to process the applications as quickly as possible. Please allow up to one week for us to process your application. Once we have, you will receive an email confirmation from Canada Blooms stating you have been selected as a volunteer.
Does everyone who applies get chosen to be a volunteer?
Although Canada Blooms requires an enormous amount of volunteers - 900 in fact - you won't believe how quickly these spots fill up! Volunteering is done on a first come first serve basis - so submit your application as soon as possible to be considered! All individuals will receive an email from Canada Blooms stating whether or not you have been selected as a volunteer.
What is the “Secure Volunteer Area”?
The Secure Volunteer Area can be accessed once your volunteer application has been submitted and approved. Your login information (username and password) will be sent to the email address you provided in your application. Once you login in to the Secure Volunteer Area you can access your Orientation Package and other volunteer related information.
Is there a dress code for volunteers?
As there is a lot of standing and walking involved, we want our volunteers to be as comfortable as possible. Feel free to dress casually (i.e. jeans, running shoes).
Can I choose the area I want to volunteer in?
On the application form you can choose the area in which you'd like to volunteer - the feature gardens, the marketplace, information booths, at the doors etc. Canada Blooms will make every effort to accommodate your request. However, due to the large number of volunteers at the event, we recommend you submit your application as soon as possible to increase your chances of volunteering in the area you are most interested in!
How long are the volunteer shifts?
Each volunteer shift is 3 hours long - and, at the end of the shift you get to spend the rest of the day at the show as our guest!
