Canada--Ontario Landscape Gardening Contest
Post-secondary teams from across the province showcased their skills at Sills Canada -- Ontario's 2010 Landscape Gardening Contest which was held in conjunction with Canada Blooms: The Toronto Flower and Garden Festival. Teams of two competed in a "build" contest in which they created a small garden based on a common set of criteria and drawings, by preparing and using materials such as landscape rocks, precast wall and paving units, landscape lighting, wood, sand, composted mulch and plants. This contest was also part of the 21st Ontario Technological Skills Competition - an Olympic-style, multi-trade and technology competion for young students and apprentices in Ontario being held May 17-18, 2010, in Waterloo. That annual competition brings together more than 1600 young people from across the province to compete in over 60 trade and technology contest areas.
The Landscape Gardening Contest provides an opportunity for students studying this registered-apprenticed skilled trades to be tested against exacting standards, judged on their ability to complete the elements of the project, while following the guidelines within the time allotted. Students view to win the honour of receiving a gold medal and moving forward as members of Team Ontario to compete at the Canadian Skills Competition, held May 20-23, 2010, also in Waterloo.
Since 1989, Skills Canada--Ontario, a not-for-profit organization, has promoted the skilled trades and technologies as viable, first-choice career options to the youth of Ontario through various programs, events and competitions. For additional information please visit www.skillsontario.com.

| Call2Recylce's Defining Moment
So much can be defined in a single moment. Whether you passion is gardening, sports or the environment, there is always a moment where you had to defy the odds, achieve excellence and become the best...A personal moment in time in which everything made sense, everything came together. A speech from a coach that encouraged you to "dig in", a gardening tip that inspired growth, a turning point in life that "re-charged" the passion for what you care about and helped along the journey to success. Call2Recycle's "defining moment" is when each of us shows respect for our environment by recycling rechargeable batteries and cell phones. The same kind of passion that Call2Recycle® has for the environment evident in the interview that broadcaster, Rod Black, has with some of the biggest names in Canadian sports. Guests visited the Call2Recycle booth and heard these passionate sotries...as well as were able to share their own defining moment with us.
