Join the stars of Colin & Justin’s Home Heist, and groove to the vibes of the Swingin’ ’60s at Love in the Garden, the Canada Blooms opening night party. There'll be plenty of laughs as Scottish design duo Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan take to the Unilock Celebrity Stage to kick off the Opening Ceremonies. The night promises to be a psychedelic trip back to a time when people wore flowers in their hair and peace was everywhere. Dress code is cocktail chic or Swinging ’60s. Tickets, $195, are limited, so order yours online today at canadablooms.com. Colin & Justin’s appearance, courtesy of RBC.

The organic garden’s secret weapon is mulch, says gardening expert Mark Cullen. “Each spring I spread a 10-centimetre layer of finely ground cedar or pine bark over my perennial beds and around shrubs and roses. Nothing holds moisture like it, and it also reduces weeds in the first year by at least 90 per cent!” Find out more about gardening organically when Mark Cullen presents the Ecological Garden Primer on Thursday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at Canada Blooms.

Healthful herbs and edible plants will get your heart beating at Pulse, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario feature garden. Designed by Elias & Associates Landscape Architects to represent the four chambers of the heart, the garden features pathways that flow through beds filled with sage, lavender and coneflowers and rich, ripe strawberries. Inside each chamber is a calming oasis surrounded by evergreen hedges where you can sit comfortably to have your blood pressure monitored.
